Enabling works for lift renewals at Dale House


Integrated Lift Solutions were pleased to undertake some complex enabling works for lift renewals at Dale House.

Dale House

Dale house is located in the heart of Manchester’s Northern quarter, near to the newly regenerated Piccadilly basin. The building is grade II listed and in 2017 underwent a refurbishment by the new owners which will retain many of its original features as well as providing contemporary style studio offices. Integrated Lift Solutions were asked to undertake some complex enabling works for lift renewals at Dale House. Due to nature of some works on a large live site in a major city centre, some weekend work was included to minimise disruption.
Extensive building works included;

  • Erection of bespoke timber hoardings, floor protection & health and safety signage
  • Remove 7 storey lift and all associated components
  • Break out & remove existing concrete buffer from within lift pit
  • Break out & remove redundant springs from within lift pit
  • Cast new reinforced slab to lift pit
  • Supply and erect scaffolding
  • Re-opening of previously redundant landing openings
  • Removal of steel beams and concrete slab which protruded into the shaft to form a previous landing entrance
  • Reduce section of wall down below road level, leaving listed drainage channel untouched
  • Reduce headroom at entrance to road level
  • Refit existing lifting beam and retest following removal of lift to suit new lift
  • Supply & install lifting beam
  • Test & commissioning of lifting beam
  • Concrete to be removed from level 4 entrance threshold                                                               
  • Supply and install submersible pump c/w agma float sensor using braided hose and jubilee clips. Alarm and independent over flow sensor
  • Chequer plate fitted to loading bay entrance
  • Incorporate storage / access point to motor room above on top landing whilst maintaining pedestrian route
  • Paint shaft with Standard contract matt to act as a sealer coat with sufficient coats of paint to provide a solid uniformed finish approximately 236 m2
  • Return visit to alter drainage run into specific drainage provided by tenants to make good to new entrance once installed.
